DIGITAL RISHI
Krishna advised Arjuna to fight in the Kurukshetra war because it was his dharma as a Kshatriya (warrior) to uphold righteousness, and the war was a necessary step to end adharma and restore a just order. He explained that:
1
Duty over personal attachment – Arjuna should perform his Kshatriya dharma without being swayed by emotions of attachment to family and friends 📖Bhagavad Gita 2.31–33.
2
The larger purpose – The war was not for personal gain, but to establish dharma and end the rule of adharma by the Kauravas 📖BG 4.7–8.
3
Non-attachment to results – Arjuna should act without attachment to the fruits of action (nishkama karma) 📖BG 2.47.
4
The immortality of the soul – Krishna taught that the Atman is eternal, so killing the body does not destroy the true self 📖BG 2.20.
Thus, Krishna's advice was not to promote violence, but to guide Arjuna towards fulfilling his duty with the right understanding, free from selfish motives, and aligned with cosmic order (dharma).
